Unable to Sync

I have a generation 4 ipod touch I am trying to sync. My computer recognizes it and tries to put it on my devices, I ignore that, but it won't show in Itunes. I have a second older model, ipod nano 4th gen., that connects without problems. The wire works I restarted and updated itunes and my laptop (windows), yet the itunes still does not show my ipod touch when I connect it.
