iphone 6s app running in background draining my battery

I recently upgraded to an iPhone 6s in October. I had zero problems for the first 2 months. Now, however, my battery is constantly being drained. I have turned off all apps from using location services in the background and go so far as to turn location services off. I have uninstalled several apps as well. I have done a restore on the phone from the most recent update in iTunes. When I go to my battery settings in the control panel the usage time is usually very close (within 1 hour) of the standby time regardless of how much I am using my phone so it seems like something is running in the background but I don't know what. I have to use my 2 month old phone on Low Battery Mode if I want it to last all day. Any ideas?

Thank you for the reply but I already had this turned off. I've done almost everything I can think of to save battery. in the 2.5 hours since I first posted this reply my phone has gone from 64 down to 32 percent and the usage vs. stanby is at an hours difference but I was busy doing something for almost this whole time and have barely used my phone. Also, the phone feels hot like the battery is overheating.

I have looked there. The apps that are being used the most are usually text and instagram since I have a bad instagram habbit, however, the amount of time they are running doesn't match with the usage time at the bottom where it compares it to standby, it is usually 20-30 minutes on screen and only a few in the background compares with the hours and hours it says I am using my phone. Usually the phone is off in my pocket but it seems to be running something, though I cannot figure out what, that is consuming the battery. Also, because of this problem I am constantly double tapping the home screen button and closing all my apps. I even deleted instagram earlier today to see if that was the problem and it does not seem to have helped. i have done 2 restores on the phone, it seems to resolve for a day or 2 afterward but then goes back to this problem after I do the restore.

Constantly closing out your running apps is doing nothing for your battery; in fact, it may be making things worse, so you can stop doing that. You're right in that there is probably some app that is causing the problem. If you've done restores from a backup, you're not getting the best test - you need to restore as a NEW device to see if this fixes the problem. (Back up first) If it does, you'll need to add your apps back one at a time to see which one is draining your battery, or perhaps some files within your backup are corrupt. Post back here if you have questions.

Are you using iCloud features like syncing contacts or photos? If yes, disable those features in Settings/iCloud, force restart the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, then start using the phone and compare the results. If the battery life is back to normal again, add the features back and check again.

For other users, deleting the mail account and setting it back up again solved the battery issue.
