Turn Off Find My Phone Activation Lock...

My sister has given me her old Iphone 5. She forgot her Apple ID password but we were able to reset the password through the reset instructions. When I go to use the phone and sign-on at Activate Phone (AppleID and password) the phone comes back with Incorrect Apple ID.

When I go to Manage My Apple Account, using the same Apple ID and password, the iPhone is not listed under Devices. When I go to iCloud, using the same Apple ID and password, there is no icon for Find My Phone. Using the Find My Phone app the iPhone is in Activation Lock: On

I'm lost on what to do next. I can't get into the phone, I can't get into Find My Phone through iCloud.

Anyone?

To LACAllen, thanks for your reply.

The Apple ID starts with the same first letter (b) and finishes with the same @gmail.com. b*********@gmail.com. It's the only gmail my sister has ever used. However, there is always that possibility that the gmail address was entered incorrectly. She claims to have never logged into Manage My Apple Account, iTunes, or iCloud. But I am doing so now. That is what's so perplexing.

I see only the Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Settings icons when I log on to iCloud. I'm pretty sure that FMIP was never set-up.

To Philly Fan, I'm having some fun now with the challenge but not sure I want to chase this old dog that far.

Log in to https://icloud.com/find using the Apple ID and password that you think are correct. If you get in successfully you should see the phone on a map. If you don't see it the phone is locked to a different Apple ID. You can also enter the phone's serial number at https://www.icloud.com/activationlock/ and it will tell you if the phone is activation locked (but not what the account is).

Hi, You can use the iphone ? go to settings or is this locked and saying "enter the apple id password to proceed "or something familiar. If you can use the phone go to settings/icloud/click o name or picture profile and ask you for the password in that window shows you the email of the apple id and verify the apple id is the same you have. if is the same you can enter the password or change the password again with the questions.

If the phone is locked you can enter in the page www.icloud.com and see the devices.

the most import thing is disable search my iphone on the device when you have done that you can reinstall the sofware with itunes.

To L Finch - I logged into iCloud with the Apple ID I have and think is correct and the error message was Find iPhone Not Yet Enabled. To enable FMIP , signin to iCloud Settings on iOS. I can't get the iPhone to open past the Activation Lock so getting to settings is not an option.

I checked iCloud Activation Lock with the phone's IMEI and the phone is Activation Lock: On

So I'm beginning to think the two email addresses do not match. The Apple ID (the one I think is correct) and the iOS ID (used to establish the phone) are different. This would not surprise me. And the phone is now an anchor weight.

To leotefo - see above.
