While watching Netflix, subtitles default to the ON position, despite setting them to OFF in Settings on my 4th generation Apple TV. I can switch them off with Siri or swiping down on the trackpad, but as soon as I watch another program, they come back on. I'm looking for a solution to get Netflix to "obey" the Apple TV settings.
Send feedback to Netflix to update their app. Many have reported the issue - you're not alone. The more that send feedback to Netflix the more likely they will be to make changes (or quicker fixes)
Thanks for the link. I reported it to them by phone and they claimed it fixes itself after watching a show for five consecutive minutes with subtitles set to off. I can confirm that it is not true in my case. This problem didn't happen with Apple TV 3. I hope that they will address this annoying issue.

"I was looking into this for you and we do have a notification on our end about the subtitles not respecting settings on some Apple TVs. As soon as they are able to get this resolved, you will see that the settings are saved every time you play a program without needing to take any extra steps on your part.
