Jan 4, 2016 4:45 PM in response to miketurnerby FoxFifth,iCloud Drive is just one part of iCloud. If you log in to https://www.icloud.com/ you should see Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Photos, iCloud Drive, etc.
If you open the iCloud Drive app at https://www.icloud.com/ whatever is in there will also be on your Mac if you have enabled it on your Mac via Apple Menu > System Preferences > iCloud. If that is turned on they ARE stored on your computer as well as on iCloud. iCloud Drive is not designed as a cloud storage service -- it is a service designed to share or sync data between all of your devices and iCloud.
The other parts of iCloud are synced elsewhere (i.e., not to iCloud Drive) on your Mac. The Photos at https://www.icloud.com/ for example will be in your Photos app on the Mac, the Contacts at https://www.icloud.com/ for example will be in the Contacts app on your Mac, etc. assuming that you have turned them on to sync via Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud.
