What is the latest version of OSX that supports my old PowerMac 6.1?

I have pulled my old (2003?) POWERMAC 6.1 out of mothballs and need to retrieve some photos. I have a WD MyBook network drive that I would like to connect to make this easier. The WD "Smartware" needed to access the drive isn't compatible with my Leopard (10.5.8), although the reeasle notes says it should be. What version of OS-X can/should I go to t try and get the WD software to run? Thanks for any insights. Dave

When reading support documents read an analyze every single word. Does it say something about hardware supported? I am wondering if your Smartware does run under OSX 10.5 but only on an Intel Mac.
