Indesign cs4 and os x yosemite version 10.10.5

It's so frustrating. I feel your pain. I don't have a solution.

I put a post on Adobe Support Forum. No solutions yet, I will share if I do. The funny thing for me, I can run Photoshop CS4 and Illustrator CS4 perfectly on 10.10.5 However, Indesign CS4 won't work. It wouldn't launch when I migrated it from an old iMac to a new iMac. Then when I try to install Indesign CS4 it gives me this error message:

it's not a JAVA "problem" but when you launch Photoshop it will ask you to install it.

CD's are supported in 10.11, you just need the HW on the mac. If you don't have a CD device on your mac it's possible to target mode another Mac and launch the CD from there.

otherwise you can use a Mac with a CD reader to create disk images and copy those images over to the new mac, and mount them.

create a new administrative account, boot to that account and test inDesign.

if that does not workremove CS4 and reinstall from original media. If prompted for Java use the link above

I'm not sure what you mean by new administrative account.

I did remove CS4 and tried to install Indesign CS4 from a Adobe download link, I have the software on CD, however CD's are not supported on the new iMacs. Like I noted above I hit a wall with the Startup error in the installation process. I never encountered Java problem.

while CS4 is not supported any longer and never was in 10.10 but this is the Java you required for legacy CS.
