How can I transfer playlists from iTunes to USB drive?

I've been able to copy all the music in my iTunes Library to a thumb drive ( for playing in my car), but can't seem to transfer the playlists I've created. I've tried various approaches using the "Export Playlist" function in iTunes File menu, but car's player won't recognize or display the lists. ( It does display all the other tags - artist, album, song genre, etc.) Anyone have solution?

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), OS X El Capitan (10.11.2)

You will need to look at the cars entertainment system manual to determine

what format the playlists need to be in and where to locate them relative to

the music. Every car manufacturer and aftermarket systems are different.

You will have to provide the solution as there is no uniformity between car players. There's several ways they implement playlists or yours may not implement it at all. Read the owner's manual.

If you see the player is playing according to file name that is a starting place because you can rename the files.

Thanks to both for the clue about the owners annual. Tried one quick search in the Toyota manual but found nothing on required formats. I'll keep checking. Assuming I can find the desired format and location, do I use the "Export Playlist" option in itunes or is there another way to transfer the playlist titles and sequences?

The export feature will produce a playlist. Whether or not your car will use it is another matter. We can't answer that.

Some players use m3u playlists.

Some play according to folder structure.

Some play according to alpha-numeric file name order.

I'm guessing some could even use their own proprietary structure.
