Q: When receiving a text, I always receive an alert tone. However, I don't receive an alert tone from one particular iPhone user. This user does receive an alert tone when I send them a text. Is this a problem w/my phone or the user? Is there a fix?

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities! I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with your iPhone. If you are having issues with the text tone for a specific user, you may want to check that user's Contact settings (under the Edit button) as noted in the following User Guide page:

Contacts at a glance - iPhone

If everything appears correct and you are still having issues, you may also want to check your Blocked and Do Not Disturb settings:

Block calls and block or filter messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Use Do Not Disturb on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

In the text conversation with that contact, tap Details in the upper right corner. Check to see if you have Do Not Disturb enabled for that person.
