Can't use several bluetooth devices after upgrading to 9.2 (icade controllers)

I am unable to use several bluetooth devices since upgrading my iPhone 6S to iOS 9.2, including two separate iCade bluetooth controller devices (one of which had originally been paired with the phone, and a new one that I just bought which doesn't work with iOS 9.2, but seems to work fine on older iOS devices.)

The units will pair with iOS 9.2 no problem, but will have no functionality at all.

I've tried every possible variety of pairing, unpairing, forgetting, restarting, and so on, but nothing will get these controllers to do anything on iOS

I am frustrated that Apple has apparently removed the ability to downgrade to iOS 9.1 which worked fine with my controllers. That means I am unable to use certain applications and VR games at all until Apple presumably fixes the issue with iOS 9.2.1 or iOS 9.3.

Has anyone else had these problems?
