Can I charge mi iphone4 on my i-connex ipod dock ?

If this iPod dock is an older product, it may supply FireWire charging (used for older iPods). That will not work on an iPhone 4. When you connect it, the iPhone's screen shows a message about the incompatibility. Otherwise, it should work (unless the dock does not provide enough power). What happens when you try?

When I mount my iphone4 (no firewire required) to my ipod dock there is no response to this from either device. I can cycle the iopod dock's display between 3 modes which read "IPOD, "AUX" and "TUNER". "AUX" is for auxiliary audio equipment eg a discman. "TUNER" is for the radio in the dock.
Technical specs for the dock say that it has rated voltage Input 230-240V ~50Hz and voltage output 5W
The dock is named I-Connex 583 258 (Made` for IPod)
My iphone does not start charging and soon goes to sleep.

Since your iPhone does not respond to being connected to dock, the most likely reason is that the dock does not supply enough power for an iPhone. Technically, 5W should be enough (the little cube-shaped Apple USB power adapter that comes with iPhone is rated at 5W). But it may not be up to specs, due to age or quality.
