Unlocking iphone from other country

Hello. Is there any ways how can i unlock my iphone 5c ( a two-year contract finished) from japan here in the philippines. It was brought by my mom and its carrier was softbank. Should i need to go to itunes store or any apple store to fix my problem? If so, how much will it cost for that service. Thanks...

If I recall correctly, Softbank does NOT unlock phones.

No. They don't. The carriers OWN the locks. Sometimes it's because they subsidize the price of the phone, sometimes it's just because they legally can. Apple doesn't have the legal right to remove the lock. Next time you buy an expensive piece if kit, do your homework first. I'm not trying to be mean, but that's the way the cellular industry has operated for decades.
