Q: Impossible to connect an external screen
Hello,
I have a MacBook pro 13" with the last software and OS updates. I tried without success to connect my laptop on an external screen, a Dell P2414H.
Unfortunately, this screen has no hdmi connector. I used the VGA cable with a adapter VGA / HDMI to connect on my Mac. I selected VGA output on the screen, but the MacBook didn't detect the screen. I can connect on the external screen with a colleague's laptop which is on Windows 8.1 / Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (dual boot). So, the HDMI adapter, the VGA wire and the screen are ok because they are working on others computers.
I also tried to connect my MacBook at home with my Asus external screen (hdmi connection) and my Sony TV (hdmi connection). Everything worked well.
How can I solve the connection problem with Dell external screen ?
Thanks
MacBook Pro, null

It's just impossible to connect an external screen with a VGA wire and a HDMI adapter. As there is no HDMI connection on the screen, I found 2 low cost solutions to solve the problem.
1) Buy a VGA / Mini DisplayPort (Thunderbolt) adapter. However, the screen resolution is a disaster.
2) Buy a DisplayPort / Mini DisplayPort (Thunderbolt) wire. Here is my choice.
