Q: iPhone agenda app not loading Gmail 'shared' agendas

iPhone agenda app not loading Gmail 'shared' agendas

When I load my Gmail agenda into the app, it fails to display the 'shared' agenda from my girlfriend.

(On my Macbook this does work well).

How can I fix this?

I tried disconnecting and reconnecting Gmail and updating iOS.

iPhone 5s, iOS 9.2

    Hi there Bas Oud-Zuilen,

It sounds like you have an app on your phone that isn't working properly. I would use the steps in the following troubleshooting article to help you out here.

If an app you installed unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open

Although the symptoms in the title sound different the steps are very much relevant to the issue you are describing. Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

    Dear Stirling,

    Thanks for taking the time.

The Calendar or Agenda app is a native app for the Iphone, hence it cannot be removed and re-installed.

I did all the updates, Iphone off and back on etc.

I might have to try to install another calendar app.

But I was hoping I could get an answer from Apple ~ or community ~ about loading shared agenda's / loading Gmail agenda, and if there are known issues with this.

The native app should do it, shouldn't it?

It did work on my phone some time back and then suddenly the shared items disappeared.

I don't exactly remember if it happened after an update, or just from one day to the other.

Anyone has a clue where I could start my search ?

Thank you for the update and clarification. When you called it the Agenda app I assumed it was a third party app, so next if you've quit the apps and restarted them, I would suggest backing up your device to iTunes, then restore it as new and verify that it works.

How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups

If it does, then restore your backup to either verify it still works and the software just needed reinstalled, or isolate the issue to the backup file itself.

    Hi Stirling,

It was only yesterday that I could find the time to try out your solution.

I set up my iPhone as a new device, then I added my Gmail to the accounts (including agenda).

Unfortunately the Agenda app still did not read the agenda items of my girlfriend who's shared her agenda with me.

When I installed the Google Calendar app, it read those items right away.

Also on my Macbook Agenda app they are visible.

Since this error occurs on a "new device" , I imagine it is one of those things that nobody can really solve...

    Anyone familiar with this issue?

For me the work-around with the Google Calendar to check my girlfriends agenda is okay.

Just not how it should be !

    Thanks anyway for the support.
