Postscript error printing from Preview

This has been an issue in previous versions of OS X as well. When printing from Preview, often (not always) the printer will just print a Postscript error, as follows:

ERROR: ioerror

OFFENDING COMMAND: image

STACK:

-dictionary-

This has happened with multiple printers, and does not happen when printing from other applications. Any ideas how to fix this?
