I upgrade to el capitan today seemingly successful. But at Restart and Shut down everything goes except the "Dock" and the macbook does not shut down. I wanted to shut down at the Terminal and a key appears at the password and nothing happens. Any help?
This is a useful tip. I did as suggested but the desktop background and dock remained and the machine did not shut down. It must be some kind of bug?
I found a way around it. Even though I closed some of the applications they still appeared in the "Force Quit" window. So I force quit them and I could shut down the machine properly. Thank you all
