Dell 3100cn el capitan driver

Hello,

I assume I can use basic IP Postscript driver for my networked Dell 3100cn color laser printer on my new macbook pro El Capitan 10.11.2 but is there a more specific one?

I about to use the Dell 1355 Color MFP Installer per someone's suggestion. BTW, how do I uninstall the Dell 1355 MFP installation? There's no instructions?

Thx

-Rob

In answer to your question, try here for drivers

http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=R11443 6

(from 2011)

as for uninstalling the Dell 1255 MP installlation, after you have done installing it, the original file should be on your desktop as XX.zip, drag it to the trash, and empty trash. If you want to get rid of the files themselves, go to system preferences, then printing click on the printer icon you want to remove , and click on the Minus key and it should go bye-bye. The files themselves should be found under yourname, double click on that, then go to top of screen and choose Go To, and in the box that appears there, type in Library and click on OK. You should be able to find Printers from there. Or you could try going to Hard Drive, then Library, then go to Printers and the files should be there. According to dell, the 3115 or 3130 are compatible with el Capitan. so you could give 'em a try rather than the other driver.....your mileage may vary, though

Hello Johnb-one,

Thanks for the Dell link but, like you mention in your post, the Dell file (Entei-Mac-9-MR2RC1.sit) is nearly 5 years old now and the .SIT file extracts to a .SMI file which is not usable on Mac OS X 10.11.x El Capitan.

I know I can add a Generic Postscript file and that'll work fine - even for a Dell Color Laser 3100cn, but I had hoped Dell would've kept their software up-to-date. Silly me! I'm so glad I switched from Dell computers to Mac! ;-)

Thanks for the references to the file locations - sure 'nuff, those Dell files are in both /Library/Printers/Dell and ~/Library/Printers.

Anyways, I'm hoping that Dell or some other kind soul will update the Dell Color Laser 3100cn printer drivers.

Till then, thank you,

-Rob
