Headphones

Hello. Thank you for looking at my discussion. But i have a problem. Last Christmas a Mac Desktop was purchased for me. Recently my left headphone had stopped working and i wsn wonering if anyone had the same problem and found a responce that worked or if there is a update that i need to install. Thanks in advance
