Apple Tv freezes when I stream a TV shows from Mac using airplay.

Reboot ATV, computer, router

If on wifi try connecting Apple TV via Ethernet

Test on another network

Even i face the same issue. Streaming HD videos in youtube is working perfectly fine in MAcboor Air but when I turn on Airplay, it succumbs. Router is 2.4GHz. Do i need to change it to dual band ? or just connecting ATV via ethernet should do good?

Using Ethernet should be fine

So much for the "Air" Play! We can't stream from the MacBook Pro retina. We've not been able to be successful with AirPlay from devices since we bought the Apple TV. Sure we can use the other features of ATV, but the router is 20 feet and plugging in an ethernet cable isn't practical. The only thing I did do just now was plug it into the HDMI port, but the audio stays on the MacBook, not on the TV.

Come on adding a wire? is that the best we can do?

Read as much as we could find on Airplay on support communities

It works just fine over wifi, but requires a stable network. Using Ethernet will be more reliable in those instances, it is also used for troubleshooting. The distance between router and ATV will of course factor in and allow more room for interference. If you want to see a current status of your network get a report from istumbler, netstumbler or similar. Look for signal strength, noise, nearby networks

Please describe exactly what you try that fails. Then one of us may be able to offer some more concrete suggestions. AirPlay does work for many users, so there's something in your setup that's making it fail.

Are you trying to AirPlay video from the internet, or a file on your computer?

Is your computer OS up to date?

You said you plugged it into the HDMI port. What did you plug into which HDMI port?

You mention devices. Do you have the same problem with iPad or iPhone?

I have this problem when using GoToMeeting on a MacBook Pro when I AirPlay to Apple TV. I have tried another MacBook Pro and it freezes too. I have updated my OS on the MBP several times and now on Sierra (still does not work). It seems to be in combination with Airplay and GoToMeeting. Any ideas on how to fix? I continue to update the OS on ATV and MBP and use the most recent version of GoToMeeting and it continues to freeze with AirPlay.
