Q: magic mouse cursor not showing on log on screen

fire up the imac and when the log on screen appears there is no cursor arrow anywhere so i can't log on. just started doing this two days ago so i tried my old logitech bluetooth mouse and that didn't work either. had to turn off and reboot again then it worked, then same thing  happened today also.
