To track exercise and fitness activity, you can use the built-in Workout app (which works alongside the built-in Activity app, which also runs in the background):
- On your watch, go to the Home screen (via a single press of the Digital Crown) and tap on the Workout app icon (runner on a green background).
When starting a workout, choose the activity type that most closely reflects the nature of your exercise activity.
For Zumba (as for any other activity that is not very similar to any of the other options), you can select Other as the activity type.
When tracking a workout using Other:
- Apple Watch estimates active calories based on data recorded by the built-in heart rate sensor, and;
- The Activity app will credit the Exercise progress ring with one minute for each full minute of the workout.
For the best results from the heart rate sensor, Apple suggests that you consider tightening your watch band before your workout and loosening it again afterwards.
