Q: which apple ID to use for iTunes match?

I have two Apple ID. One is my @aol.com address which I used for some iTunes purchases, but not many. The other is an @me.com address.

I use the @me.com to be part of an iCloud family to share purchases and for Apple Music.

But I used my @aol.com address for iTunes match before Apple Music came along.

Now that I'm part of an iCloud family, can I use my @me.com address for the iTunes match instead of the @aol.com account? I got a notice that my iTunes match subscription is about to renew. I'm thinking that I should't have to pay for that since I'm part of an iCloud family account with my @me.com address.

I'm wondering, if I go to my iTunes account and change it from my @aol.com account to my @me.com account, will the iTunes match work? I could do it, but thought I should ask here first.

Any tips? Thanks.

Be sure you understand the differences between Apple Music and iTunes Match.

It sounds like all of the benefits of iTunes Match are part of Apple Music. However, once the Apple Music subscription is cancelled, the matched songs will no longer be available on iCloud Music Library.

I'm still wondering about my next move. Change my iTunes login from my old @aol.com account (which has a handful of song purchases on it) to the family iCloud group associated with my @me.com account? Will all of the music in my library on my Mac be made available on all devices because of my family plan? Including the music purchased with my old @aol.com account?

    HI,

You should note that you can't use iTunes match with family sharing.

Thanks for pointing that out. My plan is to not renew iTunes match for this account. Instead use the Family sharing account and it looks like the basic matching functionality is included. Unless I'm missing something?

    From the Apple website:

When you first join, Apple Music checks your music collection to see which of your songs are also in the Apple Music catalog. It does this by matching against your song’s details (such as name, artist, album). If we have your songs in our catalog, we make them available to access on all of your devices.
