It sounds like you have already AirDropped your desired photos from your iPad to your Mac Pro. Good job.
Note on the Mac, your AirDropped pictures land in your Downloads folder.

If the recipient is signed in to your iCloud account, the item you're sending is automatically accepted and saved. Otherwise, the recipient is asked to accept the item before it's saved to their device.
- On a Mac, the item is saved to the Downloads folder.
- On an iOS device, the item appears in the appropriate app. For example, photos appear in the Photos app and websites appear in Safari.
So navigate to your Downloads folder (either in the Dock or in your Home folder) and move your pictures into Photos.
Photos for OS X: Import photos and video from storage media
Do any of the following:

Drag files or folders from the Finder to the Photos window.

Drag files or folders from the Finder to the Photos icon in the Dock.

In Photos, choose File > Import. Select the photos or videos you want and click Review for Import. If you selected multiple photos or videos, select the ones you want to import and click Import [number] Selected or Import All New Photos.

Imported photos appear in the Last Import album in Albums view.
From there you can move them to whatever album you want from the Last Import.
