sync contacts from carddav to iCloud

HI, i am migrating from using another contact manager (Daylite) back to iCloud and mac Contacts. My main contacts are in CardDav and are set up to sync between Daylite and mac Contacts, so my iCloud does not have my correct contacts list. Can anyone help or point me to an article or a post describing what exactly to do to:

-delete any contacts i currently have in iCloud

-import all of my CardDav contacts into iCloud, and start fresh?

I assume after that, to sync contacts between mac Contacts and iCloud, all i have to do is have iCloud account enabled in Contact 'accounts'?

Many thanks

Diana

ps. i am using mac OS X 10.10.5

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Howdy Diana,

I understand that you're looking to remove all existing contacts from iCloud, then import the contacts from another CardDAV service to iCloud. The first step in the process is deleting the contacts from iCloud as detailed in the article linked below (note: multiple contacts can be selected via the shift key).

iCloud: Delete a contact

Once your iCloud contacts have been removed and both it and the CardDAV accounts have been set up on your Mac, use the article linked below to first export your CardDAV account's contacts (again, multiple contacts can be selected here). Once exported, remove the CardDAV account from your Mac, then import the contacts into your iCloud account.

Contacts: Export and import your contacts

OS X Yosemite: Add your Twitter, Facebook, and other Internet Accounts
