Fastest Way to Import CDs

I have about 500 CDs that I want to put into my IPOD. Seems like using the import CD function on iTUNES it takes about 5 minutes or so per CD. Does anyone have a faster way of doing it?

PC, Windows XP

Unless you have a CD ripper program that is faster and you can live with MP3's vs. AAC files your largest impediment is likely your CD drive. I rip in about 1/2 that time with iTunes or less, so you may want to invest in a faster CD drive.

Keep in mind ripping without a program that will tag them via CDDB, you would then need to spend hours adding tags, so you need to factor that in as well.

Don't forget that the import speed is also goverened by the computer's processor, how much RAM, whether other programs are running at the same time etc.

I get an import speed on average of aroung 15x real time so for a 60 minute cd that's about 4 mins or so. Some cds are imported faster (around 20x) and some slower.

Using iTunes and getting 5 mins per cd doesn't seem excessively slow to me.
