How do I stop using idrive and keep device files unique to device?

Have one iCloud account, multiple devices using iDrive. I want to quit using iDrive and keep files that are unique to a device on that device. I don't want to keep a merge of contacts, photos, notes, etc from devices backed up to iDrive on a device they don't pertain to. iPhones give you option to keep files on phone but it is a merged image of all files which then requires manual editing to get back to only files you want on that device. Is there an easier process? Thinking for apple devices, I could restore to a previous backup after erasing content and settings. For a PC device, iDrive doesn't present that option so I have to think through that one but perhaps restoring from a backup on my external drive will work. Appreciate any ideas and guidance.

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 9.2, Also using on Windows 10 PCs.
