iTunes Podcast Approval Time

Hello, I submitted my podcast on 12/22. It is now 1/5. I received an email saying...

Dear podcast owner,

Your podcast feed, [ http://feeds.soundcloud.com/users/soundcloud:users:117019685/sounds.rss ] was successfully added and is now under review.

Regards,

The iTunes Store team

I still have received no news about my podcast and cannot find it on iTunes. I tried to resubmit, and it said I could not because the RSS feed has already been submitted. Here is that feed....http://feeds.soundcloud.com/users/soundcloud:users:117019685/sounds.rss.

It is hosted on Soundcloud here https://soundcloud.com/theentrepreneurhouse.

I have checked my email and spam folder, and see nothing from Apple about the podcast except the email that says the podcast has been submitted.

This is a talk show podcast.

Please advise what we can do in the situation.

Regards,

MacBook Pro, iOS 9.2

The time it takes for a new podcast to be approved (which requires human intervention) is very variable and presumably depends on how many people have submitted recently. Two weeks seems to be about an average time, and you haven't reached that yet. When it's accepted you will get an email telling you so and giving you the URL of your iTunes Store page. Once a podcast has appeared in the Store it can take several days further before the artwork appears and the podcast can be found in the Search.

However your podcast is likely to be rejected with the message that they have difficulty playing your episode. This is because when you enter the URL of your top episode's media file in a browser it downloads instead of playing within the browser as it should. This means that although it works in the iTunes application, the Store can't play it within its own page.

You need to set each file not to download.

If you do that, at least with the top episode (the only one they check) to begin with, you might get it in before they get round to checking.

It's not absolutely certain it will be rejected for this but I've seen it happen a number of times.

If it is rejected, you should correct the matter then contact Support to reinstate it. Go to https://itunespodcasts.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and click the disclosure triangle at the right of the 'Choose a topic' field - choose 'Re-activate feed' and proceed from there. Or you could just re-submit it but you will probably have to change the title slightly or you will be told it has already been submitted.
