Jan 7, 2016 6:51 AM in response to ni1by Eric Root,Safari/Preferences/Advanced - enable the Develop menu, then go there and Empty Caches. Quit/reopen Safari and test. Then try Safari/History/Show History and delete all history items. Quit/reopen Safari and test. You can also try try Safari/Clear History…. The down side is it clears all cookies.Doing this may cause some sites to no longer recognize your computer as one that has visited the web site. Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library./Caches/com.apple.Safari/Caches.db and move it to the trash.
Go to Safari Preferences/Extensions and turn all extensions off. Test. If okay, turn the extensions on one by one until you figure out what extension is causing the problem.

Jan 7, 2016 9:36 AM in response to ni1by Richard Lehman,It is not always the website itself, but the trackers and ads that are associated with the website. Sometimes those get hung up and prevent the rest of the site from loading. All of those video ads, instant start video feeds, etc take time and bandwidth to start up. We usually don't notice it as our internet connection speed keeps getting faster.
In the Safari extensions menu, look for "Ghostery" and "adblock plus" in the safari extensions menu. Also, Flashback is pretty handy too.

Jan 7, 2016 9:40 AM in response to ni1by pinkstones,I don't know. I'd need to know more about your particular system to maybe get an idea of why it's happening. Do you have any of the following things on your computer:
- anti-virus programs (Avira, Avast, Kaspersky, Norton, Sophos ClamXav, etc.)
- cleaners (CCleaner, CleanMyMac, MacKeeper, Memory Cleaner, TuneMyMac, etc.)
- out-of-date drivers
- applications you haven't updated recently
