Q: Profile Manager won't run

We're running Server.app v5.0.15 on OS X 10.10.5 and it was working last month (before Christmas break).  When we came back to school Profile Manager was shut down.  We tried to start it but it just spins for 60 seconds and then stops again.  We've rebooted the machine several times and turned up logging (as shown here) but I can't find the problem.  Someone, in another thread, said that there was a problem with timeouts somewhere and that Apple was going to update Server.app to deal with it, but I don't know how reliable that info is.  :/

Help!  We can't manage our iOS devices (all 300 of them) without Profile Manager.  NOTE: we are using VPP to install some apps, if that makes a difference.

Thanx!

Richard

I was able to get things working again by removing and re-installing Server.app.

    1. Drag Server.app to the trash
    2. Empty the trash
    3. Reboot the machine
    4. Open the Apple App Store
    5. Open the "Purchased" tab and click on OS X Server

That seemed to get Profile Manager up and running again.  I'm still having some performance issues with it but at least it runs now.

Did you loose any data / settings or have to reconfig anything by doing the above?  Ive done a similar "fix" by moving server.app to trash, wait for the message saying "server removal detected" and then move the .App back, but never deleted and re-downloaded.

No, no data or settings were lost.  As far as I know it is safe to remove the Server.app completely from the computer as all of the data & settings are stored in the database (PostgreSQL) and not in the application.
