iPhoto not available to update

Hi All,

I've purchased a new Macbook Pro which has an iPhoto preinstalled. It is now saying that an update is available but when I try to update it it says "update unavailable with this apple ID because either it was bought by different user or was refunded or cancelled" but for the other apps, I'm able to update them.

OS is El Capitan 10.11.2

Can you please suggest?

Thanks,

Gourav

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1

If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash

Install the App from the App Store.

Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?

iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply.

I do not seem to find the iPhoto app in the purchased list and even when I check to unhide the app from the view my account page, I do not see any manage link as mentioned in the link.

BTW I also read in some links that iPhoto has been deprecated and has been replaced with Photos app. Is that correct?

Can you please suggest what could be done?

Thanks,
