Hi

WhatsApp Messenger (a third-party app) does not currently offer an app for Apple Watch, so cannot be installed on it.

You may wish to contact the developer to suggest that they add this feature:

(The decision regarding whether or not to provide an app for Apple Watch - and the responsibility for creating it - rests with the app developer, not with Apple).

However, keep in mind that, whilst the WhatsApp Messenger app for iPhone does not include an app for Apple Watch, it is still possible to reply to incoming message notifications using quick replies.

How notifications behave depends on the status of your devices and your settings. With Wrist Detection enabled, in order to bring notifications to your attention as soon as possible:

  • If your iPhone is unlocked, you will receive notifications on your iPhone instead of on your Apple Watch.
  • If your iPhone is locked or asleep and your Apple Watch is unlocked (regardless of whether the watch screen is asleep or awake) and on your wrist, then you will receive notifications on your Apple Watch.
  • If your watch is locked or has Do Not Disturb enabled, notifications will go to your iPhone.
  • More information: Notifications on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

In order to receive WhatsApp Messenger notifications on your Apple Watch, also check your settings for that app on your iPhone:

Go to: Settings > Notifications > WhatsApp Messenger:

  • Check that Allow Notifications is enabled.
  • Check that Show in Notification Centre is enabled.
  • Check that Show on Lock Screen is enabled.
  • If desired, also enable Sounds and Badge App Icon.

Once those settings have been enabled, to configure your Apple Watch to mirror notification alerts from WhatsApp Messenger:

On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Notifications > scroll down to the list of apps > turn on the button next to WhatsApp Messenger.

Hi

WhatsApp Messenger does not currently offer Apple Watch support, so it is not presently possible to reply to WhatsApp messages on Apple Watch.

However, your watch can still be configured to mirror the app's notification alerts from your iPhone:

- On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Notifications > scroll down to the list of apps > turn on the button next to WhatsApp Messenger.

If and when the developer adds support for Apple Watch, the app's description in the iTunes Store / App Store will change to include the wording: "Offers Apple Watch App for iPhone".

You may wish to contact the developer to suggest that they add this feature:

Hi

It is now possible to send quick and dictated replies from your watch, via the notifications that you receive on it, using WhatsApp Messenger.

Check that you have installed WhatsApp Messenger on your iPhone, that you have enabled Notifications for the app on your iPhone and that you have also enabled Notifications for the app on your Apple Watch:

On your iPhone, on the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Notifications > enable alerts from WhatsApp Messenger.
