So, my 2015 MacBook Pro 13" 256gb storage has literally just been opened and I have 8gb of "other" data and 2gb of audio (I haven't downloaded any music or transferred from my external HD).
How do I get rid of this?

Download from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper and Grand Perspective (both free) and open them. They will show all of your files and the respective sizes. This should allow you to determine what data is on your MBP.
