I understand that you are having issues with the YouTube app on your iPad mini. Let's see if we can figure out what is going on.
There are a few ting s that you can try. Start by closing that app entirely and the opening it back up again to test. If that does not work, then you will want to restart your iPad. I would also make sure that you are running the latest version of iOS. You might even need to delete the YouTube app and download it again. Take a look at the article below for more details.
