Q: I am unable to connect to windows server 12

I am trying to connect my mac book pro running OS 10.11.2 to my workplace windows server 12 using a .local name. No luck. Does anyone have a suggestion that might get me connected.

File sharing must be on in the computers you wish to share files with. In mac this is in system preferences users or accounts. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204445 The only other thing is that for it to work for windows. You need to click on the file share in the box, then go to options. Which may require you to unlock the padlock and inter you user password. then in options make sure to check the box(Share Files and Folders using SMB) Windows.
