Q: Battery choice

Hi

I have an old iPod 4th gen. with a faulty hard drive, so I'm thinking about replacing it.

1. It's a MK2004GAL 20 GB 5 mm.

Is it possible to replace this with a 40 GB 8 mm. hard drive, or will this cause any problems?

2. Does iTunes (ver. 12) still support the older models?

    1.  If your iPod originally came with the thinner hard drive, the thicker one will not fit (unless you purchase the back metal half of casing from a thicker iPod).

    2.  I have a 4th gen iPod (with a compact flash card on an adapter), and it works fine with the latest iTunes and OS X.
