Messages Not Showing

When I went to my messages today they are not showing up, still says 1.9g of messages in storage but not showing up in the messing app. I just restored the iphone to factory and loaded my most recent backup. The messages are still not showing, the storage went down but now every time I check storage it continues to go up. Its like its loading the messages but they are not populating on the messaging app. Any suggestions? also tried network reset and that didn't work either.

iPhone 6, iOS 9.2

Try the following?

Settings > Messages, log out of your AppleID in Messages settings
Shut down the phone
Power it back on
Settings > Messages, login to the AppleID you use for messages.

I tried that too, I can send and receive messages. Its just like its not showing all my old messages but they are still in storage.

The exact same thing happend to me I am no longer able to see all past messages but in the storage it shows the space the messages are taking up. Have you discovered any solution to this.
