Back to my Mac errors?
What happened to Back to My Mac? Worked great until yesterday...now getting error messages on both of my iMacs. See below. How does one fix this?
Thanks!
iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)
Thanks for thief, Eric, but nothing in there has helped me. The really strange part is that although I still cannot get a good checkmark in the iCloud setup for Back to my Mac, all of my computers are communicating just fine...how goofy is that?
You are welcome.
What is going on here? I have replied to this post as I am struggling with the same issues and posted on the varies options I have tried and now all postings have disappeared and the message ID is changed. Is history being rewritten here?
The exact same thing is happening to me, too; first noticed on Tuesday (1/12). Can't star BtMM, can't sign out of iCloud. Nothing else changed.
OK, I noticed today that BtMM started working for me again 🙂
After it stopped working and I (unsuccessfully) tried the various troubleshooting suggestions in the links posted above, I first disabled and then after a few days could re-enable two-factor authentication on my Apple ID (there is a system 'timeout' on those for security). I'm not sure if this caused a reset of my settings, or if there just was a general cleanup on Apple's/iCloud's side, but now BtMM works without issues.
cheers,
Leon
Thanks, Leon, that was really strange, but my BTMM is now alive and well again today! I think it is pretty poor that Apple left us twisting in the breeze while it was a dead system for us...is this the new Apple? I certainly hope NOT!
Same here. I checked, after seeing others comment that it had mysteriously restored itself, and it's working (well, logging in to B2MM anyway) here. Will test with a VPN later.
Yes, working as designed.
As an IT Service Management professional I am constantly amazed at Apple's inability to provide reliable, available back-end services and - more importantly - to notify users when services are interrupted. The book on how to run IT properly was written decades ago (ITIL) and it's really not hard to implement. Yet the lack of basic release, change and incident management is staggering given their size and resources.
