Q: Compressor 4.2 and mts Video

I have FCP 7 and the Studio Applications, but FCP cannot log and import AVCHD 1080p50, only 1080i50!

So I think, I buy Compressor 4.2 for that, when Compressor can convert AVCHD 1080p50 to PRORES 422HQ.

The Compressor in the FCP Studio 2 cannot import and convert AVCHD Clips.

I have the Answer of my Question and it is "NO" !

Compressor 4.2 (and the older Version 3.5 too) can not Import or / and convert AVCHD Clips from my SONY NEX camera in 1080p50 !

I was on Saturday in the APPLE Store in Dresden with my Clips and try it - no way, not with Drag & Drop, not with File Import !

We have tried everything, together with an APPLE Employee, but the Compressor ignored this Files!

Hello there, Ralf.

I believe that Compressor will be able to open your 50P mts files. But if you want us to verify that, you could upload a short clip to a file sharing service and we could let you know before you spend your money.

Hello,
I take this Clips with my Sony NEX 5R in AVCHD 1920 x 1080 50p with 28Mbit per Second, but the Question is: can Compressor 4.2
general convert AVCHD into ProRes 422 HQ!
I have the Compressor 3.5 and this Version of Compressor take not AVCHD Clips anyway!

No, I don't have something that says specifically it will open your format. Here is the tech page.

Compressor can open mts files. Whether it can open the specific format you have is something we could verify if you wish to upload a short clip to Dropbox.

I still should be interested in taking a crack at this firsthand. You could take a five second shot of a door nob as far as the content is concerned. Then upload it to Dropbox and post a link if you'd like.

Thanks for the link.

Just so you know, I was able to open the mts stream in Compressor 4.2 and transcode it successfully.

Also, you may be interested sometime in testing the trial version of FCP X, since I was able to import the files from the AVCHD bundle.

Hello Russ,
Yes, FCP X can import and convert AVCHD Files, but direct Import in Compressor 4.2 (for Converting) we have not succeeded in the APPLE-Store
with the Staff from the store!?
