Airdrop finally working in share menu, finder icon back

Hello all,

Hope to help someone like me, spending a lot of time getting airdrop to work.

Long story, but hopefully worth reading....

I've spent the last couple of days figuring out, why the airdrop icon wasn't in the finder and wasn't in the share menu.

No where to be found in finder preferences but airdrop was showing in the extension system preferences.

Airdrop was working fine from the photos app to my iPad an iPhone running iOS 9.2.

Also handoff between iOS and 10.11 was working fine.

But no finder icon....

Tried deleting all kinds of plists ( bluetooth, p2psupervisor, com.apple.finder.plist etc) and all kinds of other tips in the forums all over the internet.

Also tried the commands in terminal like

defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser BrowseAllInterfaces 1

Then i decided to create a second user account, to see if airdrop was working in the other account.

It did, so i figured it must be a preference tied to my main user account.

Solution: i downloaded prefsetter, to edit plists. http://www.nightproductions.net/prefsetter.html

Went to users/yourcomputername/library/preferences and found com.apple.NetworkBrowser.plist

The value of DisableAirDrop was true, meaning no AirDrop.

Changed it to false, restarted the finder and voila!

Hope this was of some value for you.

Best regards.
