My computer (OS X El Capitan, version 10.11.1, late 2009) keeps saying that my printer (Canon MG7520) is not connected. I have checked the cord and plugged it into a different outlet. Now what else can I do?

My computer keeps saying that my printer is not connected. Although I was able to scan and print a page from my printer. What can I do?
