Q: Renaming wireless keyboard and mouse

I bought a used apple wireless keyboard A1314 and Magic Mouse to use with a Power Mac G5. Both are discoverable and paired and working fine but when I go to System Preferences and then select Keyboard and Mouse in the status box that opens both the name boxes are empty and it doesn't show the battery levels. If I go to Bluetooth and open it up I am not able to rename either. This really isn't a problem because they're working fine it's just that I would like to name them. Anyone come across this of know how to correct it?

Thanks

PowerMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Open BlueTooth preferences, select the device entry, then CTRL- or RIGHT-click and select Rename from the context menu.

I'm not exactly sure what your telling me to do. When I open Blue Tooth Preferences it opens and the Apple Magic Mouse and the Keyboard are displayed on the left. If select either, CTRL or Right clicking does nothing. I can select one and click on the little gear symbol below and it offers Disconnect or Show More Info. If I select Show More Info and click on the box to the right with the info in it and the click on the gear symbol again I'm offered Disconnect, Add to Favorites, Update Device Name, Update Device Services, and Hide More Info. If I click on Update Device Name it doesn't change anything except show todays date as the Last Name Update in the More Info box

I'm on a Power Mac G5 using OS 10.5.8, that's not the dialog box I get when I open Blue Tooth Preferences

Well it took a little searching but if anyone else is having this problem the solution is: Do a software update and you'll see an update for Aluminum wireless keyboard and Apple Magic Mouse. Simply download the updates, restart your computer and when it restarts all will work perfectly. I'm now able to rename both and it now show the battery life for each.

Checking some specs on that keyboard, I believe you need to use Snow Leopard which does not run on PPC machines.
