Can I attach external speakers and, if so, how?

iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, Late 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.2)

Thank you very much Mr. A. While I have your attention, would you know how I can get my music on my iPhone 6 plus, to play in the background, i.e. to play while I'm reading my email, etc.
