Hermes watch band care

How do I protect and care for my Hermes watch band? I have the brown fauvre double tour band.

On the Apple site I says to use a "cotton cloth" but I'm wondering if a leather protectant , conditioner, or oil would help. The leather is easily stainable, but I want to be able to wear it daily without worrying about water splashing on it when I wash my hands, lotion getting on it, etc.

Hi

For leather bands, Apple's cleaning instructions are:

Wipe down the band with a nonabrasive and lint-free cloth.
If needed, you can lightly dampen the cloth with fresh water.
Leather bands are not water resistant.
Soaking them might cause discoloration, skin irritation or other damage.
Let the band air dry.
Direct sunlight, high temperatures, and humid conditions can cause damage.
