Has anyone's Apple Pencil stopped charging?

Hello. I recently went on a two week vacation and I did not bring my Apple Pencil. Upon my return my Apple Pencil battery was fully drained. I have tried to charge the Pencil via the lightening port on my iPad Pro as well as the wall adapter and nothing is working. Has anyone else experienced this with their new Apple Pencil? If so, is there a fix? Or is the Pencil officially bricked?
