Jan 12, 2016 8:46 PM in response to Thenitaiby GeoMacbook46,I agree with you. I have tried the reset mentioned SMC in the forums, have no background apps running, nada. Have been shutting the lids on all my macs for years, and have never had battery drain. A percent or two at max. This Macbook 12" is the first computer to have this problem. Agree that it must be an OS related problem. It's not the end of the world, but often when going from meeting to meeting it's more convenient just to shut the lid and go to your next appointment.

Jan 21, 2016 2:09 PM in response to Thenitaiby Thenitai,This is getting ridiculous. Disabled everything. Applied latest OS update (10.11.3). Put the laptop to sleep overnight with 100% and today it is at 0%.
Very disappointing

Jan 21, 2016 3:32 PM in response to Thenitaiby Lanny,The only way that this can be happening, and it has already been pointed out to you, is that it is not actually sleeping, or staying asleep, when your lid is closed.
You probably have some 3rd party application that is preventing your Mac from maintaing sleep.
It's not the OS. I have 12" Retina MacBook, and so do many other people, and we are not having this issue.

Jan 21, 2016 4:12 PM in response to Lannyby Thenitai,I thought so too. However, after a complete wipe and re-installing MacOS X only it still happens. I'll need to contact support. Might be something with my MacBook.

Jan 21, 2016 4:20 PM in response to Thenitaiby Lanny,After you re-installed, did you use Setup or Migration assistant, or did you do a clean install with no migration of your applications and data?
-
Jan 21, 2016 4:24 PM in response to Lannyby Thenitai,Clean install. No migration at all. Only thing I have installed right now is Firefox.

Jan 22, 2016 9:07 AM in response to GeoMacbook46by appleman888,Try pressing alt and the battery level indicator. This will give you a battery condition. If it is not 'Normal' then you may need the battery replacing.

Mar 31, 2016 7:30 PM in response to Lannyby Christopher Schwartz,The two links Lanny posted are the articles I also came across to determine that hide is an essential process to OS X. Lanny, are you able to add anything additional information about it's sleep prevention status?
-
Mar 31, 2016 10:44 PM in response to Christopher Schwartzby Lanny,Yes, you're barking up the wrong tree.
The process is only active when you're using the mouse, trackpad or keyboard. Otherwise the process is inactive. See shots below:
When using the trackpad:
Stop using the trackpad:
In summary, the Mac won't go to Sleep when the trackpad, mouse or keyboard are in use.
You can watch the Activity Monitor with the following options selected, HIDD will disappear from the list of active processes about 2 seconds after you stop using the trackpad or mouse:
Move the cursor, and the process will startup again.
