Q: The start of every song is cut off (+-1.5 sec) while using bluetooth speaker

Hi everyone!

I was wondering if anyone could help me with my iPod Touch 6th gen.

When I connect the Ipod to the bluetooth on my speaker JBL Flip3, the majority of the songs are cut off at the start by +/- 1.5 sec. (Though this doesn't happen when I use a mini- jack cable to connect both devices together).

As a music & dance teacher, I find it very important to have the beginning of each song to count in my students.

I've tired using my ipod on several other bluetooth speakers and it still does the same problem. On the other hand my friend who has an iPhone doesn't have this issue while using my JBL Flip 3. So I reckon it is something to do with the actual iPod.

I've already tried to go to ITunes<preferences<playback to see if there was any fades. but none of the options were ticked.

I would really appreciate any help!

Many Tahnks,

Lauren

    Lauren,

I'm having exactly the same issue with my iPhone 5s (running IOS 9.2). I couldn't have described the problem any clearer than you did.

When I connect my iphone to my Insignia NS-CSPBTHOL-BK and enable Bluetooth, I experience the same cutoff at the beginning of my music. It doesn't happen if I use the AUX input.

My phone has Bluetooth 4.0, but I cannot determine what version the speaker has. Also, could there be a file format issue, or the fact that I'm playing most of my music from iTunes Match and not from the device itself?

I wonder if there's any kind of setting I to enable or disable on my phone or on my computer.

    Hi Edie!

That's exactly what I'm trying to find out. I'm hoping that it's just a setting.

How far away from the speaker is the iPod? If it's too far away, the Bluetooth connection may be lost - and then possibly when the iPod plays music, the speaker re-connects.

I might have found part of my problem. The Insignia NS-CSPBTHOL speaker I was using has the capability to answer phone calls. I wonder if that might explain the cut-off. A few days ago, I paired my phone with a friend's Bose Soundlink speaker (which doesn't have phone call capability), and it played every track perfectly over Bluetooth. It didn't matter that I was using iTunes Match, nor did the Cellular and WiFi settings pose any issues.

Fortunately, Best Buy has a similar Insignia speaker (NS-SPBTBRICK). This one doesn't have phone call capability and is also about $15 cheaper. I'm going to try it out.

    HI fiend,

Thanks for your message. The ipod is liturally next to the speaker so it really shouldn't break up at the start of each songs. It cuts out like 1.5s at the start.

@Edie: my JBL Flip 3 does answer phone calls... Do you really think that's the issue? So strange...it's a bit bad of the makers..

    Hi everyone,

it seems like it might the IOS 9.2 that might be the issue with Bluetooth.

both iPod and iphone 6th gen aren't working with the speaker JBL Flip 3....

but this hasnt really solved the problem ☹

Hi, I have the issue too and am also a dance teacher! Nightmare as I bought costly speakers that are bluetooth yet now aren't using them because of this stupid feature. Am on the phone to Bose as we speak. Have you found any solutions?
