Jan 10, 2016 1:14 AM in response to BREADWINNERby K Shaffer,Could be the battery has expired after some time without use. Even a new one
won't last for more than a few years in storage. To let the computer charge for
a day or two wouldn't hurt. It may not run on the battery if it's been sitting years.
A replacement battery is likely a required new part. Depending on what version
MacBook you have some are not user-replaceable and others are harder to find.
Usually the Apple Store will not have batteries for older models, while AASP or
authorized Apple service providers may; or could order you one. Make sure you
correctly identify your computer, if you talk to an Apple Store with genius bar,
they could help diagnose the computer issue, but won't fix old computers.
An iFixit.com repair guide online for your specific model older MacBook could help
determine effort required to replace the battery, if not an externally accessible one.
If the computer is a MacBook (13-inch older) or MacBook/Pro this does matter.
