How do I transfer my files and info from my old macbook pro to the new one using the thunderbolt cable

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

You just connect them using a Thunderbolt cable. Note that a mini displayport cable will not work evenought the plugs are the same.
