Q: Home Sharing not working with my ethernet connection/ router
I have a desktop (HP compaq) connected by ethernet running windows 10. I have 3 apple tvs that are also connected by ethernet. My home sharing was working fine up until I got a new router/modem through at&t about 3 months ago. This also coincided with the upgrade to itunes 12. At this time the itunes on my desktop computer stopped communicating with my apple tvs and I cannot stream music or videos through them and the little home sharing icon disappeared on my desktop itunes.
I also have an additional wireless access point in the house. Home sharing does work with wireless devices that are connected to this AP. I tested my netbook with Itunes on it and it connects fine and is able to do home sharing when it is near the AP. However, if it gets closer to the router/modem than the AP and switches where it is accessing the signal, I lose my home sharing. I have tried switching on and off the ipv6. I have restarted the router. I have unplugged and plugged back in every device multiple times, updated software and turned on and off home sharing multiple times...literally tried everything I have read in these community threads.
I also use the Remote app on my iphone to play my itunes library through the apple tvs. Same thing...when I am near the AP I can access the wireless library from my netbook on my phone, when I am nearer to the router/modem the wireless library disappears from the remote app. At no time can I access the desktop iTunes library which is directly wired to the router/modem. I assume I need to change something on the setting for my router but I have looked all over the UI for something and I don't know what that might be. Help please! Any ideas?
