Temporary removal of the /private/var/folders/c6/..../T-folder causing problems in Office 2016

Hi all,

since the upgrade from OS X Yosemite to El Capitan I noticed problems with saving my Office 2011 word, excel, and powerpoint files after working for a while in them. Also, a statistical software program (RStudio) provides errors when I prepared graphs and plots. After an update of Office 2011 to Office 2016 I still noticed the errors that read for example 'This file cannot be saved. There is possibly not space left on the drive or you do not have write permission.' and 'File cannot be save to .'. The only option to continue is to stop word/powerpoint, and continue from the most recent saved version of the file. When I tried the 'save as' function, the file in which I worked was saved, but did not include figures, images, etc. I noticed that a single folder located at /private/var/folders/c6/.../T is removed or emptied every couple of hours or when a program is shut down. This causes loss of temporary files created by for example word, excel and powerpoint. This also explains why the 'save as' function does not include the graphs and images, as these are stored in this specific folder. I use the latest versions of OS X (10.11.2) and Office for mac 2016 (15.17.1).

What to do? Could this explain problems reported by others? And what causes in El Capitan the temporary removal/emptying of this specific folder?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.2)
